🏆 WIN OF THE WEEK: Getting Out of Hell, Listing the 32, Ring Shopping, and Starting the Raise

Our new build at my most hated project probably of all time is under contract to sell which is a blessing. Now we just need to get the flip under contract to sell and fingers crossed it all goes smooth so I can get out of this deal and never mention it again except as a reminder of what I learned and to teach others haha. That project taught me a lot, but I am ready to be done with it. Also our 32 unit is officially listed for sale! This is another project I would love to sell and can’t wait, fingers crossed!

Catelin and I organized the home a little more and then also went ring shopping for her wedding band and to see some rings I like for myself. There are a lot of options, but it is exciting. We are building something and I cannot wait to celebrate that with her.

But here is the big one. We are starting the raise for our 9 unit townhome development. This is a big project and we are bringing in investors to make some serious money with us. If you want some information on that let me know and we can hop on a call to see if it is a good fit for you. Here is a link to the project and opportunity breakdown to invest:

💨 WHIFF OF THE WEEK: Doing a Ton But Feeling Like It's Never Enough

I got a ton of stuff done last week. I mean, I plan weekly action items, write them down and then cross them off and when I look at that list I can see I did a lot. But here is the thing. I still feel like I am just not moving the needle forward. I think this is just a constant battle I have with myself. I am doing what I need to do and making progress but I just feel like it is not enough. This is something I deal with a lot and I am sure a lot of other people deal with it too. I have really only been doing this full time for 2 years, so I am still young, but my goals are so large it’s just a constant reminder I haven’t done much of what I want.

Everything for me just is not good enough. Definitely a problem I need to continue working on. But at the same time, having that attribute actually makes you keep moving forward. So I need to learn how to weaponize it without sacrificing my mental stamina and my health. It is a work in process and I have done a lot to make it better, but sometimes it just creeps on you. Just a constant you are not doing enough. It is annoying and it is real.

I have been thinking about starting a Charlotte mastermind to meet with people in person to help with this stuff. When you are around like minded individuals and can talk about this stuff and grow together and learn and kick ass together, it is awesome. I do it through GoBundance but it is mostly virtual, so it doesn’t hit the same. Who knows, maybe the Hive Mastermind will be coming soon. We will see, but it has definitely been on my mind. If that is something you would be interested in, definitely let me know.

🎯 TACTICAL TIP OF THE WEEK: Your Wins Are Real Even If They Don't Feel Big Enough

Here is something I need you to understand. You are probably doing way more than you think you are. You are probably moving way more needles than you realize. But the problem is that your internal bar keeps getting higher and higher. Your definition of success keeps shifting as you grow. So wins that would have been huge a year ago now feel mediocre.

Here is my tip. Write down your wins. Every single thing you accomplish that moves you forward. Not to be cocky. Not to brag. But to create a visible record of progress. Because your brain lies to you. Your brain says you are not doing enough. Your brain says nothing is working. But the paper does not lie. The list does not lie. When you see it all written down you realize you are doing way more than you think.

So do this. Every week write down what you accomplished. What moved the needle. What got you closer to your goal. Then read that list. Really read it. Do not dismiss it. Do not move on to the next thing. Sit with it for a second and acknowledge it. Because you are doing the work. You are moving forward. Your brain is just lying to you about it. Do not let your brain win.

🔦 FROM THE FIELD: Government Red Tape is Killing Growth But We are Close to Breaking Ground This Week

Our Dellinger project, the 3 townhome deal, has been delayed for a month or so because the city and county have the absolute worst process of subdividing, getting approved plans, getting LDIRL's and then sublotting and getting permits. Here is the thing that pisses me off. Instead of just doing it all in one go they make you do each step separately for review. When to be honest it could all be submitted together. It is such a money grab from the city and county and it is disgusting. It is preventing people from wanting to build in the Charlotte area and honestly I do not know if that is the city's plan, but it makes no sense.

There are around 135 people that move to the Charlotte area a day. That is crazy. But it means we need better processes for building and supplying housing for these movers. Charlotte is growing and every time the government gets involved it is like they enjoy stunting that growth or the ability to build because they are greedy and to be honest dumb. I am all for checks and balances making sure the structures built are sound and correct based on zoning, but this whole document process to just break ground and get the project going could be expedited if they were not so greedy.

Anyway most big cities are like this unfortunately, but you just have to learn about the process, get ahead of things and follow up. With all that being said we should have our permit finally approved this week. Fingers crossed. We can finally break ground. I know our investors are excited to see that and so am I. Let's get it!

💬 FINAL WORD

This week is a good reminder of something I constantly battle with. You can be doing amazing things and still feel like it is not enough. You can be closing deals and listing assets and raising capital and starting projects and still wake up thinking you are not doing enough.

That is the curse and the blessing of being driven. That is the double edged sword of ambition. It gets you to do more but it also never lets you rest. It gets you to take action but it also makes you feel like a failure even when you are winning.

But here is what I learned this week. You have to create external proof of your progress because your internal voice lies. You have to write it down. You have to see it. You have to acknowledge it. Because if you do not, you will burn out chasing a target that keeps moving.

Our most hated project is almost done. Our 32 unit is listed. We are starting the raise for the 9 unit. We are about to break ground on the Dellinger. We just closed on a luxury duet build. We host a networking event to help others and ourselves. That is a lot. That is real progress. That is winning.

So I am going to acknowledge it. I am going to celebrate it. And I am going to use that momentum to keep pushing.

But I am also going to remember to breathe. To take time with Catelin. To go ring shopping. To enjoy the process, not just the outcome.

Because that is what this is all about. Building something real and enjoying the journey while you do it.
