Wendell’s Weekly Wins and Whiffs

👋 Welcome to Wendell's Weekly Wins & Whiffs! The real, unvarnished breakdown of what it takes to build companies, scale a real estate portfolio, and lead with integrity. ⚒️📈 Each week I share the wins that move the mission forward, the whiffs that force recalibration, and the lessons earned in the trenches. No hype. No fluff. Just real talk. If you are committed to building something real, you are in the right place. Let's get into it. 💥

🏆 WIN OF THE WEEK: Permits Are Rolling and the Pipeline is Heating Up

In the news of Tide and Timber Ventures we have some serious momentum. Our Dellinger project, the 3 townhomes, we finally got everything approved to submit for permits. This is the last step until we can break ground and it should be approved within a week or so. We are excited to get this project cranking as it has been delayed due to the city's slow process, but we are almost there.

We also got a head start on our luxury duet build Sarah Drive project and already have our LDIRL and LDPLAT submitted. This essentially means that everything is submitted to be reviewed for the build and once approved we can immediately submit for permits and break ground once permits are in hand. This one should be an easier path to permits since we did not do a full subdivision like Dellinger. So we are looking good on this one.

Lastly we have some good momentum for our Lebanon project which is a 9 townhome build project. We are now currently raising for that one which is a great opportunity for anyone looking to passively invest with us with healthy returns. Reach out if interested.

On the Flip Fuel Lending side, we also have great momentum. Our marketing CRM is almost completed and a few of our loan officers have been getting a lot of loan scenarios in. If you were ever interested in getting into the hard money lending space, we are always hiring so just reach out.

💨 WHIFF OF THE WEEK: Carrying Tasks Into the Weekend and Realizing Sleep Matter More Than Ever

Not going to lie, this week I did not finish everything I needed to do. Some weeks are like that and I had to carry it into the weekend, which is fine, but I normally do not like doing that. It throws off my rhythm and my plan but it happens.

I am also realizing that as I get older my sleep schedule is becoming so much more important. If I do not go to bed around 10pm to 11pm and sleep a good 7 hours or so, I feel it. I miss the days of being in my 20s when I could operate on 4 hours of sleep. Now if I get 4 hours I literally feel like I might die lol. I used to pride myself on the grind and minimal sleep, but your body catches up to you.

That is all to say I need to crack the whip on myself and get into a good sleep routine. That way I have great energy throughout the week and do not trail off at the end of the week like I did this week. Sleep is not a sign of weakness. Sleep is a tool for performance.

🎯 TACTICAL TIP OF THE WEEK: Ask and You Shall Receive. Don’t Ask and You Definitely Won't.

Here is something so simple but people just do not do it. Ask. That is it. Ask for the deal. Ask for the investment. Ask for the opportunity. Ask for the help. Ask for whatever it is you want.

The worst that can happen? Someone says no. So what? You are in the exact same position you were in before you asked. You did not lose anything. You did not get worse. You just got a no. But you might get a yes. And if you do not ask, you will definitely get a no. It is guaranteed.

I am raising capital right now for Lebanon. You know how I am doing that? I am asking. I am calling people. I am sending information. I am presenting the opportunity. Am I getting rejected? Sure. Some people say no. But you know what else is happening? Some people are saying yes. Some people are investing. Some people are making money with us.

If I never asked I would have zero investors. It is that simple. Do not sit around waiting for someone to come to you. Do not sit around hoping someone notices your opportunity. Ask. Make the call. Send the email. Present the deal. Get rejected. Keep asking. That is the formula.

In life you do not get what you do not ask for. Period. So ask.

🔦 FROM THE FIELD: Learning the 811 and Understanding the Demo Process

I learned something new this week! For our Sarah Drive project we are demoing a single family home to then build a luxury duet to take its place and sell each side separately. The process for demoing is not as simple as you think. It is not just coming and taking the house down, you have to go through a demo permit process.

This involves calling in an 811 which is essentially giving utility companies a heads up that you are going to demo. It is called Call Before You Dig. What this does is alert the utility companies to come out and mark the utilities in the area so your demo team knows where not to dig and hit lines and cause big issues. You also need to call all the utility companies directly and retire the services to the property which essentially means totally disconnect. This provides safety to the demo crew and everyone involved.

I literally never heard of 811 before so it was cool to learn about. I am sure we will be calling 811 a lot more in the future as we keep doing demos on our new build projects. Every project teaches you something new if you are paying attention.

💬 FINAL WORD

This week showed me that momentum is real and it comes from execution mixed with simple action. Dellinger is about to break ground. Sarah Drive is moving fast. Lebanon is raising capital. Flip Fuel is hiring and funding loans. And every single one of these things happened because we asked. We asked the city. We asked investors. We asked loan officers to join the team.

But it also showed me that you cannot run on fumes. Sleep matters. Your body matters. Your energy matters. You can hustle hard but you have to do it smart. You cannot sacrifice your health to build your wealth because then you have wealth but no health and that is a bad trade.

So this week I am going to sleep more. I am going to ask more. I am going to keep pushing these projects forward. I am going to call investors. I am going to market Flip Fuel. I am going to do the work.

But I am also going to sleep eight hours a night and let my body recover so I can keep doing the work for years to come.

Good health and relentless action. That is the formula.
